Caffeine Pick Me Ups

Now that I’ve started work, I’ve been trying to get plenty of sleep each night. But some nights I can’t get to sleep no matter how many minutes of my audiobook I listen to. Luckily, my office is right next to a Coffee Bean so caffeine is just a short walk away.

I can’t do coffee – I can’t stand the taste (though I do love the smell) and there’s way too much caffeine in a single serving for me. One day I had a large iced tea lemonade and I was SO jittery. So I turned to tea. Not a large one, but maybe a small or a medium will do.

Coffee Bean does a wonderful lemonade iced tea. It’s perfect for a sweet treat in the middle of the day and definitely gives me the pick me up I need. Today I had a passion fruit black tea. I think I’m a little more accustomed to the really sweet syrup-y passion fruit teas from boba places but it was still refreshing.

I really want to start bringing my own tea in mason jars to work. Maybe even put some boba in it! But that is an adventure for another day. A day with more money hopefully….

Coffee vs. Coffee Ice Cream

I’m not a caffeine drinker. I’m a pretty hyperactive person as is so I don’t need the extra energy that caffeine gives you. I’m also a huge nap taker – mostly because I like sleep, not so much because I need the nap. My intake of caffeine comes from two main sources: bubble tea and coffee ice cream.

Bubble tea has green tea in it and I’m addicted to the stuff. Something about the sugary sweet syrup mixed into the green tea with a dollop of pearls, I always crave it.

Coffee ice cream, however, is my strange addiction. I hate coffee. No matter how many times I’ve tried it, I cannot get over that bitter taste. And putting in so much cream and sugar seems counterproductive. I’ll just get really excited over the sugar and not so much the coffee. But the one thing coffee-flavored I do love is ice cream. I have no idea how I got hooked on it but once I tried it, it’s become one of my favorite flavors of ice cream. Granted coffee ice cream is much much sweeter than actual coffee…
